Chaka Khan enraged as Adele ranked 'better singer' than iconic musician

Singer Chaka Khan is furious that Adele has been rated a better singer than her.

The Ain’t Nobody singer, 69, was outraged to hear Adele was ahead of her in Rolling Stones's list of the 200 greatest-ever singers, scoffing: “Okay, I quit.”

Chaka featured at No. 29 on the list, while Adele was a few places ahead at 22.

She was so livid that Mariah Carey was placed at No. 5, she joked the magazine could be being paid to rate certain singers higher.

Upon hearing that Mary J. Blige was ranked before her as well, Chaka - who previously had a feud with the star - erupted in expletives, saying: “These b****es are blind as a motherf***ing bat. They need hearing aids. They don’t have hearing aids?

“They have no eyes. They have no ears. They must have a - these b****es, you know what? These must be the children of Helen Keller.”

Helen Keller was a blind and deaf author.

The pair first had crossed words after Chaka referred to Mary’s 1992 cover of her 1975 song Sweet Thing, as a song “Mary f***ed up”. But the pair buried the hatchet and united for a collaboration in 2007, with their hit Disrespectful.

Aretha Franklin topped the Rolling Stone poll, which pleased Chaka, as she responded: “As she f***ing should be. Thank you. There’s justice somewhere.”

Whitney Houston came second, which Chaka also approved of, applauding the late singer for being “great”.

During the chat on Los Angeles Magazine’s podcast The Originals, Chaka noted she had not heard of the list before the hosts mentioned it to her.

Rolling Stone’s list was controversial when it was released at the start of the year, most notably for its omission of Celine Dion.

Fans protested outside the magazine’s New York office.

Other stars including Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and Sting, were not included.

The magazine said as it published the list: “Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List.

“Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent.”
