Chadwick Boseman left the world too soon, but his legacy will forever live on—especially the impact he had in his role as the Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The actor, who died last year in August after a private battle with colon cancer, touched many through his role as the superhero, particularly people of color and Black people.
And Boseman’s brother agrees.
Speaking to TMZ, Derrick Boseman, told the outlet that he believes T'Challa “needs to live on in the 'Black Panther' franchise, and if that means tapping another actor to portray the king of Wakanda -- the role Chadwick made famous and legendary, then so be it.”
It would be a tragedy for fans if Marvel decided to kill off the Black Panther and Derrick is fully aware of the impact his brother had.
And although Chadwick himself never explicitly stated what he hoped the MCU would do after he passed, Derrick told TMZ he believes his sibling would've wanted with this too.
He explained how “Chadwick thought T'Challa was bigger than just himself as one guy” and says he knew “the power of the character, and the positive influence it carries.”

Derrick added that “there's so much power in seeing a Black king -- especially in a superhero capacity, like in the Marvel flick -- which has a HUGE impact on African-American youth.”
As for Marvel potentially killing T’Challa in the films, Derrick says that’s the wrong thing to do and that “they're kinda depriving black kids of a role model.”
In fact, Chadwick’s brother has seen the impact firsthand and said his “own nephew has told the family he wants to be a scientist and cites 'Black Panther' as his inspiration.”
