CES 2025 live: All the big reveals from the world's greatest tech show

The time has come once again for the biggest event in the consumer tech calendar. CES is back for its 2025 edition – CES 2025 representing the 101st anniversary of its organising body, the CTA – and the world's biggest and greatest technology show promises to be chock-full of major reveals and product announcements.

The T3 team will be on the ground at the show in Las Vegas, where we'll be getting up close with the latest new tech, to see first-hand what's going to be big in 2025. From hands-on impressions, to insider interviews, and opinion pieces about the forthcoming new products, there'll be plenty of coverage on the site built around CES 2025.

In this live blog, however, we'll be highlighting all the biggest and most important news stories that matter. Whether that's new Samsung displays, the robot vacuums of the future, health developments to change your daily life, or any other important or, frankly, zany new releases – this is the place to catch it all.

In brief:

When is CES 2025?

While CES 2025 officially takes place from Tuesday 7 through until Saturday 11 January 2025, the days preceding the show floor's opening are when many reveals happen and big news begins to drop.

Indeed, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January are the two media preview days, which is when much of the heavy lifting happens. During this time, behind-the-scenes briefings happen ahead of product embargoes – so if it's quiet you can expect a raft of new reveals to come pouring out thereafter...

CES 2025: What to expect?

CES has often been seen as an audio-video show, with the best new TVs among the most prominent new products – and products you really need to see in person to understand. For 2025 that will no doubt continue, with the annual Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Hisense and TCL reveals likely to take place. Like last year, however, it's most likely that Sony will take a step back for a later-in-the-year reveal.

Beyond that – and with Samsung's Galaxy S25 series phone launch not expected until later in the month – the general thematic shift in CES' exhibitors has moved in part towards automotive and health focuses. So while at this early stage there have been few reveals from some of the majors, the breadth the show offers is both expansive and exciting.

Short-throw projectors are all the rage

Little projectors capable of big-screen projections are all the rage – as was the case at last year's CES, too – with this new Hisense L9Q able to produce a giant 150-inch image, without needing to fill your living room.

A welcome from Las Vegas

This is not your casual Sunday after Christmas. This is the CES Sunday. A Sunday with more than a sprinkling of jetlag, a very full calendar, and lots of exciting things to see – so stay tuned for live reveals in this blog as CES 2025 begins to bear its fruits.

A new Dolby Atmos rival

The first big reveal wasn't for a physical product, per se, but it's something that could affect many future product launches: Google's reveal of Eclipsa Audio, its new Dolby Atmos rivalling three-dimensional audio technology.

Revealed in tandem with Samsung, whose 2025 TVs will feature the ability to decode the audio format, Eclipsa Audio will be a new standard in immersive audio experiences. It's designed with creators in mind, as the ability to upload to YouTube is part of the deal.

Exactly how it'll all work, or whether we even need another immersive audio format, is yet to be revealed in full – but it won't be long before Eclipsa Audio is available in products, bringing a rival to Dolby's Atmos.

New LG OLED TVs

LG has revealed two of its new OLED TVs: the flagship LG OLED M5 is a true wireless set, allowing for 4K 144Hz video to be transmitted with no need for cables, while the LG OLED G5 has a 165Hz refresh rate – upgrading last year's LG OLED G4 model.

CES Unveiled opens

The first of the CES preview events has just opened its doors here in Las Vegas. It’s the first real chance to get hands on with some of the new products ahead of the show itself.

Samsung First Look 2025

While Samsung has an official press conference at CES 2025, the Korean giant reveals its products at a separate First Look preview event ahead of the show starting. This year it's all about AI – with its new TVs getting even smarter, offering features such as live translation.

LG's new TV tech

LG was first out the blocks with its TV reveal, though, with the top-tier LG OLED G5 being a stunning entry in the new range. It uses a new panel technology – multi-layered OLED – and does away with the MLA panel type of its predecessor. That's an unexpected advance, but an exciting one for the TV landscape.

Highlights of CES Unveiled

Here are some of the most interesting finds from the Unveiled event at CES, from the innovative to the unexpected.

Nvidia to kick things off

The opening keynote of CES 2025 will take place today, starting at 6.30pm PST – local time to Las Vegas. That means, if you want to watch it in the UK, you'll have to stay up until the early hours of tomorrow morning, as it's kick off at 2.30am GMT.

A different tech brand takes centre stage each year and this time it's the turn of Nvidia. That means the company's charismatic CEO, Jensen Huang, will deliver his vision for the forthcoming 12-months in technology.

Expect AI to be the main focus, and we also understand that he will announce a new, superfast flagship graphics card for gamers, developers and creators. You can watch it unfold live here.

Liven up your living room

As well as the big brand products launching during CES, there are plenty of interesting audio devices to unearth.

Take the Lenco LS-570WA, for example. It is a belt-driven turntable to spin your vinyl LPs and 45s, but comes with its own built-in amplifier and speakers too, so you can use it as an all-in-one solution.

What's more, it has Bluetooth connectivity to stream music from a supported device wirelessly, plus (and this is our favourite feature) four legs that you can screw into the bottom to make it a piece of furniture in its own right.

This is the sort of retro-inspired statement piece that floats our boat. And all for just £389 / $469 / €389.

AI is leading the way in 2025

Hi, T3's news editor Rik Henderson here and I can already spot a trend emerging for this year's CES: artificial intelligence.

Alongside fellow Korean manufacturer LG, Samsung is heavily focusing on AI as its main generational upgrade, with the announcement that pretty much all its forthcoming TVs and monitors will be AI-powered.

That includes AI-centric picture processing to give us better images, but also smart search and other neat functions that will be more intuitive and contextual. I fully expect to see other manufacturers follow suit, as they announce their own AV and smart home products in the coming days.

Rugged watches, smarter straps

Garmin has unveiled two exciting launches to kick off 2025. The Instinct 3 Series brings rugged smartwatches with vibrant AMOLED displays, solar-powered options for unlimited battery life, and built-in LED flashlights on all models.

The brand also announced the HRM 200 chest strap, offering a more affordable heart rate monitor to the masses that delivers precise heart rate and HRV data in a lightweight, adjustable strap.

The future of home cleaning is a Dalek

Roborock has introduced a number of new robot vacuum cleaners during CES, but one stands out more than the rest.

The Roborock Saros Z70 not only sucks up the dust on a floor, it can pick up litter lying around, too. That's because it sports a robotic arm – an OmniGrip – that can grasp paper, socks, and other small items to clear them from its path.

In all honesty, we're not sure what to think of it. It's one-step closer to a Dalek, after all – just chuck on a plunger and it's halfway there. Although then it would have the benefit of keeping your pipes clean too.

JBL rejuvenates its headphone range

Afternoon tech lovers! T3 staff writer, Sam Cross, here to guide you through the next few hours.

One of my favourite releases so far comes from JBL. I'm a big fan of the brands earbuds – particularly the smart charging case they employ. Now, a similar transmitter is being included with its over-ear headphones.

The new JBL Tour One M3 allows users to control aspects of the playback and the sound quality, as well as connecting to different wired sources. Whether or not it can catch on with headphone users remains to be seen, but it's certainly an interesting take on the form.

Hisense goes huge

It's no secret that massive TVs are a big part of the CES experience. It's the bread and butter of this show – the foundations upon which it was built upon, and as such, it enjoys a special place in the hearts of longtime show-goers.

Hisense has certainly understood that assignment, bringing a massive 136-inch TV to the show. It's not just a big panel, though, it's also the first consumer-ready MicroLED display from the brand.

Elsewhere, key specs include 10,000 nits of peak brightness, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR 10+, Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual X, built in Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, HDMI 2.1, WiFi 6E, eARC and a whole lot more. It's a killer sounding bit of kit!

SwitchBot's renter-friendly smart lock

One more from me before the workday on this side of the pond draws to a close (though fear not – our travelling team out in Nevada will be keeping you up to date with the latest and greatest tech from the show).

Smart locks are a really trendy thing right now, and SwitchBot has just unveiled one which should be fairly renter-friendly. It's compatible with most kinds of locks, and is also incredibly secure.

16 different methods are available for unlocking, with up to 100 fingerprints able to be stored. It also features a triple-power system which should help to keep things secure even in the event of a power outage. Neat!

Samsung boosts OLED

Samsung hosted its First Look event on the night of Sunday 5 January, showing off its latest tellies on new technologies. Of them all – despite the Q990F 8K, QN90F 4K and The Frame Pro – it's the S95F that impressed. The top-of-the-line OLED features glare-free tech, upgrading the image quality, while the panel is said to be a third brighter than the previous S95D model.

LG collab with Will.i.am

In a surprise move away from Meridian, LG's latest speakers – the Xboom range – has collaborated with Will.i.am for audio-tuning expertise. There are a number of products in the range, from Xboom Grab to Xboom Stage 301, while new earbuds adopt Auracast as part of the latest Bluetooth range.

TCL press conference is just starting

There's more TVs on the cards right now as TCL prepares to start its press conference. you can watch along at home on the TCL YouTube live feed .
TCL revealed a new QM6K series and teased a new portable projector called the Playcube.

Handheld gaming goes XL

Acer has revealed the Nitro Blaze 11. This handheld PC console brings extra-large competition to the rumoured Nintendo Switch 2 – which, while not yet official, is expected to don an 8-inch display, not as large a one as this 11-inch panel.

XPS is over

Major laptop news now: Dell has killed the iconic XPS! In a bold move, new Dell laptops will be named as Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max – those naming conventions obviously bring Apple's own system to mind, but are aimed to target entry-level to mid-tier to pro.

Yaber projector launch

We're at the Yaber press conference where we're expecting to see a brand-new Ultra-short-throw Laser Projector... and we did.

The Yaber Projector K300s is the new flagship model with sound by JBL. It's a compact short-throw projector, weighing just 3.97lbs (1.8kg). It has just a 9-inch min distance from the wall to create a 100-inch screen (0.18:1 throw ratio). It has a 1000 ANSI lumen brightness and a 1080p resolution. For sound, there are dual 15W JBL speakers with a deep 50Hz bass. It also integrates a Google dongle to provide a range of streaming apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Disney+.

Sony opens reservations for Afeela 1

First shown at CES in 2023, the Afeela is the result of a partnership with Honda – now Sony Honda Mobility (SHM). The vehicle is now almost ready to go on sale and so reservations are now open... or at least if you live in California.

California residents can reserve the Afeela 1 for $200 online today. More states are expected to follow at a later date. There's no mention of international sales at this time. Prices for the initial models are $89,900 for the Origin and $102,900 for the Signature edition, which includes three years of subscription to premium features such as the intelligent drive system (level 2+), immersive entertainment selection and the Afeela personal assistant.

Amazfit brings amazing value

Good morning tech fans! Sam Cross here, back to bring you some more updates from the show. It was busy overnight, with several new and interesting products dropping.

That includes the Amazfit Active 2 – a new smartwatch from the brand who brought us the T-Rex 3 and other neat smartwatches. This one is cheap as chips, though, which is great for the budget-conscious consumer.

You'll pick up the standard model for just $99.99 (approx. £80/ AU$160.03), but we'd say it's worth opting for the premium one. It's only a smidge more costly ($129.99; approx. £104/ AU$207.97), but for that you'll get a sapphire crystal and a black vegan leather strap.

Samsung Galaxy S25 is coming – officially!

The big announcements aren't solely reserved for the show itself, either. Samsung has taken this opportunity to announce its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which will also serve as the launch event for its Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

That's set to take place on the 22nd of January, at an event in San Jose. Far from just launching the new handsets, the Korean brand has also announced a range of AI updates.

The invitation suggests a next generation of the Galaxy AI offering which is more natural an intuitive, while also changing how you interact with the outside world. Could that be something like the weather changing wallpaper we reported on yesterday? It's certainly a possibility...

Scootin' and spinnin'

Segway-Ninebot showcased its dominance in micromobility with the launch of its third-generation eKickScooters and its first-ever e-bikes, the Xyber and Xafari. The new scooters, including the high-performance GT3 Pro, feature cutting-edge tech like Dynamic Traction Control, AirLock unlocking, and FlashCharge technology, delivering speeds of up to 49.7 mph and an 86-mile range. Meanwhile, Segway’s e-bikes mark a bold debut, with the city-focused Xyber offering a sleek, commuter-friendly design and the rugged Xafari built for off-road adventures. It's clear that the leading electric scooter manufacturer intends to hold onto its number one position in 2025!

Smart tech + luxury = Ultrahuman Rare

Ultrahuman introduced Rare, a luxury smart ring collection crafted from 18K gold and platinum. The Desert Collection features three designs: Desert Rose and Dune, both made from 18K gold, and Desert Snow, made from PT950 platinum. These rings monitor health metrics such as heart rate, sleep, and activity levels, combining advanced health technology with high-end materials. Priced between $1,900 and $2,200, the Rare collection will initially be available at select luxury retailers in London and Paris.

They Ink it's all over!

Swedish e-reader brand PocketBook has unveiled a digital frame with a difference – it used full colour E Ink to look just like a poster or paper wall art.

The InkPoster comes in three sizes – 13.3-, 28.5- and 31.5-inch – and uses E Ink Spectra 6 panel technology to provide a low power display for 1000s or curated pieces of artwork, or your own photos or pictures.

And unlike Samsung's The Frame and similar TVs, the tech ensures you don't need any wires as the internal battery can last up to a year between charges,

Sony debuts its mixed reality headset, but not all is as it seems

Sony has announced the Sony XYN Headset – a super-spec'ed mixed reality device that seemingly takes on the Apple Vision Pro and then some.

It promises 4K OLED displays per eye and has been designed to aid the creation of spatial video and 3D animation. However, the likelihood is, unless you work in the movie industry or are a 3D developer, you'll probably never get to own one.

That's because it's primarily designed for professional use, with the Sony Pictures Animation team one of the few to test it first. Still, the technology could bleed down into a consumer model at some point – maybe even a PSVR3.

Mini-LED is just marvellous

This CES really has been a treasure for new TV launches. Not only does it see the end of Micro Lens Array (MLA) in OLED top-tier panels, there's a big push forward in Mini-LED from Hisense – whose 116UX has an RGB backlight so that colour volume can be controlled independently, for colour volume that's out of this world. I saw it on stand at the show and it really stood out as a new technology that no other maker can offer.

Panasonic is pulling the punches

Another major TV manufacturer – and now selling in the US once more, after a long hiatus – Panasonic's Z95B is a mega-impressive set to look out for. Taking on the LG OLED G5 directly, this is OLED at the very top of its game – complete with a brand new air-circulation cooling system. There's an integrated soundsystem too, just like its Z95A predecessor, but with a major redesign that cloth-covers the speakers and makes every more rounded, soft-edged and distinctive in appearance. This could be the best OLED TV of the year already.

To the skies

Delta's keynote is being held at Las Vegas Sphere - and the airline has gone all-out on its production. Airplane food trays, hoodies to mark 100 years - it's a takeover with real intent.

Living the Urtopian Dream

Segway's latest e-bike and e-scooter releases are certainly the main attraction at CES, but that doesn't mean there aren't other exciting micromobility announcements at the event. Urtopia's Titanium Zero e-bike, for example, features a 3D-printed titanium alloy frame, resulting in a lightweight design at just 10.8 kg (23.8 lbs). It incorporates the new Quark DM 1.2 motor, which weighs under 1.17 kg (2.6 lbs) and delivers up to 65 Nm of torque. It even has a solid-state battery with an energy density of 300 Wh/kg. Plus, the bike includes localized GPT for voice prompts and anti-theft measures and integrates with Apple Watch and Strava, enhancing the AI-powered riding experience. Sign us up!

AI wearable systems incoming

In addition to confirming the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25, the South Korean tech giant also went all out on its AI offering at CES. On a wearable front, the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring will soon become comprehensive AI-driven health companions. The Galaxy Watch will feature improved heart rate monitoring, advanced sleep analytics, and real-time stress management, utilising Edge AI for faster, on-device data processing to ensure privacy. The Galaxy Ring, a compact smart ring, focuses on health metrics like heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and body temperature trends, seamlessly integrating with Samsung Health to provide personalised recommendations. In short, the brand promises a more intuitive health management accessible to users with its all-encompassing AI system.
