Southeast Asia's largest inflatable Christmas tree and a variety of floating wonders are drifting us away to a holiday dreamscape during "Let's Celebrate 2023: Floating Happiness" at Central Embassy, Phloenchit Road, until Jan 8.
Called Bubbly Green Pyramid, the one-of-a-kind Christmas tree stands 13m tall in front of the shopping mall and is adorned with huge bows and twinkling lights. Nearby, a 6m-tall inflatable Santa Claus, or Bubbly Santa, is decked out amid gleaming gold decorations and sparkling snowflakes across the courtyard.
This gigantic art installation is designed by Cyril Lancelin, a French artist best known for his pink inflatable sculpture The Knot, which was displayed in Guangzhou, China, in 2017.
Other artistic displays under this collaboration include a 4m-tall silver and pink metallic Christmas tree covered with light ornaments in front of the Hermès store on Level G; light mirror balls lining the walkway to BTS Phloen Chit Station on Level 1; and a fascinating tunnel of dazzling lights, colours, sounds and aesthetically pleasing pine strings on the skywalk to Central Chidlom on Level 2.
Besides the giant Santa Claus and his friends floating in the air at the main hall, another special highlight is the lovely Candy Cane Christmas tree, which floats on the Candy Dream Tower at the Open House on Level 6.
There is also a Christmas market featuring more than 60 rotating eateries, sweet shops and cafes, on Level 5. The Gift Station is there to offer one-of-a-kind and limited edition gifts, plus gift-wrapping services and special wrapping paper.
Besides acoustic music to be performed on every weekend, there will be special activities during the joyous festival including an Angel Carol's singing performance on Dec 24 and the special show Christmas Orchestra by the Thai Youth Orchestra under the baton of Akkarawat Srinarong on Dec 25.
Meanwhile, Siwilai City Club on Level 5 will present the "Wine & Roasted" Christmas dinner on Dec 24 and 25, plus a countdown party featuring famous DJs and a renowned act, Tilly Birds, on Dec 31.
