Centara Hotels & Resorts and Chiangmai Riverside Plaza Hotel Co have signed a hotel management agreement for the Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai.
Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive of Centara Hotels & Resorts, said he welcomed the Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai to his company.
"Chiang Mai is a beautiful province, and we are excited to expand our footprint in the region through strategic partnerships, including this one with Chiangmai Riverside Plaza Hotel," he said.
Located next to the Ping River, close to the Old Town, the existing 27-storey hotel has been rebranded as the Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai as of April 1, 2022.
Centara Riverside Hotel's 529 rooms range between 45 and 223 square metres and feature floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the city, Ping River and Doi Suthep.
The facilities include a range of restaurants, bars and a large outdoor pool. The hotel also offers 14 versatile indoor event spaces certified by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau for meeting the Thailand Mice Venue Standards.
Amarin Narula, board director for Chiangmai Riverside Plaza Hotel, noted that Chiang Mai is a crucial destination in Thailand for both international and domestic travellers.
"With this new partnership with Centara Hotels and Resorts, we are confident that it will strengthen our presence for both the leisure and Mice markets in Chiang Mai," Mr Amarin said.
Centara Riverside Hotel is the group's second hotel in the northern Thai city after Khum Phaya Resort & Spa, which is part of the Centara Boutique Collection.
Centara's growth strategy aims to see the group's portfolio increase to 200 hotels and resorts by 2026, from nearly 90 properties at present.
