After losing his job as an assistant coach as a casualty of the Philadelphia 76ers moving on from former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers at the start of the NBA’s 2023 offseason, Sam Cassell is joining current Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla’s coaching staff in a similar capacity with Boston to strengthen their depleted coaching corps.
Cassell, a former Celtics champion point guard, has 14 years of experience as an NBA assistant coach and recently worked with Rivers on the staff of the Los Angeles Clippers as well. He played 15 seasons in the league and helped the Celtics win the title in 2008.
