It is not every day that the Boston Celtics drop a 30-point lead in most seasons, and even less so in this one, with Boston scoring at historic levels while dominating the NBA’s 2023-24 regular season. But lose they did on the road to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night at State Farm Arena, falling 120-118 as the Hawks outplayed the Celtics in the game’s second half.
Fans were justifiably irked by the outcome, with familiar over-reliance on isolation play and a lack of reliance on sound defensive principles the primary culprits behind this collapse, as they tend to be.
