Fans of undrafted Purdue big man Trevion Williams who were hoping to see the center make the Boston Celtics’ G League affiliate in Portland (the Maine Celtics — formerly Red Claws) will be disappointed to learn that appears to be off of the table with The Athletic NBA Insider Shams Charania reporting that Williams will be signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Golden State Warriors in an effort to compete for a roster spot with the Dubs.
Williams, who recorded a solid 7.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 14.2 minutes per game for the Celtics in Las Vegas Summer League action this month, attracted the attention of Celtics fans with his impressive court vision and passing and his ability to bring the ball up the court.
If he ever does end up in green and white, he’ll need to make the league first — and with the Warriors, he appears to have a (slightly) clearer path than on Boston’s stacked roster.
