In the wake of the fallout from Donda Academy’s founder Ye West’s antisemitic diatribes that threatened to shutter the school, star Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown has been making it his personal mission to ensure the students enrolled in the academy aren’t left out in the cold due to the acts of its founder.
Long a proponent of education, Brown — who himself left Donda Sports as his non-NBA talent representation agency in the wake of the West scandal — has organized a tournament for the Academy at Atlanta-area HBCU Morehouse University. “It’s important resources are provided for these student-athletes, not taken away,” write the Celtics star in a Twitter post on Saturday night.
“Shout out to (Morehouse) for opening their doors to host the Donda Doves’ official1st basketball game of the season. I need everyone in Atlanta to show love and support!,” he added. “I’ll be in attendance.”
