Veteran Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart revealed after practice on Monday that he may have to miss more time this season due to a bone bruise in the foot he hurt in the 2022 NBA playoffs.
Cleared to return to the team after missing a pair of games, Smart noted “the swelling has reduced drastically” for him via CLNS Media.
“I’m able to put pressure on it, I was able to get out here and do some things to test it out, and I passed all the tests,” he added, suggesting that he feels great and has been taking part in physical therapy to prevent him from having to sit out more games than he would like to. “I’m trying to limit those times where it’s swelling up and I have to miss games because of it,” he suggested.
“This time it was only two games,” Smart reflected. “Who knows next time? So, I’m just trying to stay on top of it.”

“There’s going to be times where I miss a game or two because of it, but nothing too crazy. Just like I was telling the guys, if this was the playoffs, I would have played, but there’s no need to go ahead and chance it.”
