Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird was renowned by his fans and foes alike for his consistency in big games. Unlike some Hall of Famers who admitted to feeling pressure during such challenges, Bird remained unfazed and consistently delivered remarkable performances.
When asked how he managed to rise to the occasion during crucial games, Bird attributed it to his confidence in his game and his unwavering work ethic. “I don’t know. Because going into those games you never knew what was going to happen. I always had enough confidence in my game, and I put in the time and the hard work,” said Bird via ESPN’s Mike Mazzeo (h/t to Basketball Network’s John Jefferson Tan). “I never really felt the pressure.”
