Fans of the Boston Celtics should start getting used to hearing star forward Jaylen Brown’s name in trade rumors no matter what either he or the Celtics organization say publicly given the potential tectonic shift his decampment could cause in the NBA should it ever actually happen.
And it is already beginning to happen despite Brown’s current contract not expiring until the offseason after the 2023-24 season, with the hosts of 1080 The Fan’s “Dirt and Sprague” show interviewing Yahoo’s Jake Fischer, with the latter suggesting the Portland Trail Blazers may also try to pursue the Georgia native at the behest of their star point guard.
Buy Celtics Tickets“I’ll say that Jaylen Brown has been a player that I believe Damian Lillard has had on his proverbial list of those switchy wing-type secondary stars like the Jerami Grants and the Aaron Gordons that have been recently linked to Portland and Dame for a while now,” shared Fischer.

As has been the case with all of these rumors so far, it’s require a lot of things breaking right for the Blazers to have a shot, namely Brown actually wanting out of his current situation AND seeing Portland as a better option for whatever his personal goals may be.
That’s certainly not impossible, but wanting things to happen on the Blazers’ side of things is a far cry from rumbles those things may happen — even if this and whispers like it ought to be taken very seriously by the Celtics’ front office nonetheless.
