Per the Boston Celtics, veteran big man Al Horford will miss at least the Celtics’ Wednesday night tilt against the Phoenix Suns after entering the NBA’s health and safety protocol while reserve floor general Malcolm Brogdon will return to action after a missed game due to a non-COVID illness.
In theory, Horford could return to play as soon as Saturday’s road contest against the Los Angeles Clippers if the league’s testing regime allows. However, it seems the Dominican big man will be getting a little more rest than he and his teammates likely expected.
That is not the best development for the Celtics given this is one of their toughest stretches of the season. But with two wins under their belt already to start their current six-game road trip and competent big man depth to help carry the load in Horford’s absence, the team should be OK in the short term.
