The Boston Celtics are evidently as active on the trade market as anticipated ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline with more new reporting from The Athletic’s Jared Weiss and John Kraczinski that the Celtics were involved in discussions that would see veteran shooting guard Josh Richardson to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Boston explored a deal that would send Josh Richardson and one of either Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith to Minnesota for Malik Beasley,” wrote Weiss, “but Minnesota was not interested at the time as they sought to maintain flexibility for bigger moves at the deadline, sources told both myself and The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski.”
Such a move seems to signal a surprising lack of interest in seeing what Nesmith could become if actually given a chance to play (and Langford as well, though he has had more of an opportunity thus far) on a more balanced roster.

That could be why such a deal ultimately has not moved forward, but if anything, we are learning that Boston is indeed committed to reshaping their roster this month.
