It seems that it was not only Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens who reached out to the team’s star wing Jaylen Brown amid all the chatter tying the Georgia native to disgruntled Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant. In a recent interview on WEEI sports talk radio show “Merloni, Fauria, and Mego” this past Tuesday afternoon, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka relayed that he had done the same.
“If a name like Kevin Durant comes up, a high-level player like that, people are naturally going to ask about your best players,” explained the Boston head coach. “Jayson (Tatum), Jaylen (Brown), Marcus (Smart) — those names always tend to come up.”
“We let them know how much we value them and these things are often leaked and nothing is going to come of it,” explained Udoka.

Other than a cryptic tweet from Brown at the start of those rumors linking the Cal-Berkeley product to the Nets there has been little to suggest any players whose names came up in the cycle of leaks and counter leaks which characterized the Nets’ dealings with KD’s trade request.
But it’s still good to hear such a united perspective from the team regarding important players like Brown, if only for doing the due diligence you would want to see from a franchise with title aspirations.
