The Milwaukee Bucks won Game 3 of their second-round series with the Boston Celtics on Saturday to take a 2-1 lead but it didn’t come without some controversy in the final seconds that had the Celtics and their fans irate.
Marcus Smart looked to be taking a 3-pointer while down 3 with under five seconds remaining when he was fouled by Bucks guard Jrue Holiday. The refs, however, didn’t call it a shooting foul and Smart went to the free throw line for two shots instead of three. He missed the second one on purpose and the Bucks held on for the 103-101 win.
Celtics coach Ime Udoka couldn’t believe it, saying after the game:
“It was a foul. It was a foul. He caught the ball, he’s turning into a shot. Both feet set. You can’t say that’s a sweep. You’re going into a shot. That’s a poor call. Poor no-call.
“I saw it in person but I also saw it on the film that I just went and looked at. It’s a shot. He’s going into a shot. He got fouled on the way up. Bad missed call.”
