The Cleveland Cavaliers knew that the Boston Celtics might have a bone to pick with them after beating the Celtics on their own home court of TD Garden on Oct. 28. The two ball clubs traded leads throughout, and as they did in their first meeting, would send the game to overtime to be decided.
But no revenge was to be had for the Celtics, who fell 114-113 in overtime to the Cavs despite big games from starters Jaylen Brown (30 points, 8 boards), Jayson Tatum (26 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks), and Marcus Smart (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists).
Reserve floor general Malcolm Brogdon added another 15 points off of the bench, and backup forward Grant Williams 11 points and 7 boards as well. With the loss, the Celtics fall to 4-3 and sole possession of the Eastern Conference’s fifth-place position.
