Celtic youngster Ben McPherson opens up on Queen’s Park loan move

Celtic youngster Ben McPherson is convinced Queen’s Park will be the perfect club for his development as he bids to build a long-term future at Parkhead.

The 19-year-old has joined the Spiders on a season-long loan after being involved with the Hoops first-team over the course of their summer preparations.

The Scotland under-21 internationalist featured against Yokohama F Marinos and Gamba Osaka in Japan, as well as against Wolves in Ireland, before being an unused substitute in James Forrest’s testimonial against Athletic Club Bilbao.

The right-back said: “After a good period in pre-season with Celtic, both the club and I felt that a loan move would be ideal for my further development.

“There was interest from other clubs, but once I had spoken to [director of football] Marijn Beuker and [head coach] Robin Veldman about the project and philosophy at Queen’s Park, I felt it would be a first-class opportunity for me to continue to learn and develop at a very progressive club.

“I am here to work hard and to give 110 per cent effort to the club, staff, my colleagues on the pitch, and most importantly the fans.”
