Celtic vs Kilmarnock handball goal flashpoint reviewed by Willie Collum

Willie Collum insists the laws are CLEAR over Kilmarnock's goal scored at Celtic Park during last month's Scottish Cup tie, which finished 2-1 to the Hoops.

Talented youngster Bobby Wales equalised before half-time in the game as he prodded home beyond Kasper Schmeichel at the back-post.

The ball fell to the 19-year-old after diverting off Robbie Deas, where it appeared to strike his arm.

However, after reviewing the footage and VAR audio with Gordon Duncan on the latest VAR Review show on YouTube, Collum insists this goal was right to stand.

He said: "We're very comfortable here. I would hope Gordon, that when we're showing this clip, the majority of people agree. This is very straight-forward in terms of law.

"I want to commend the on-field referee because again his communication is excellent. We've worked really hard this season to make sure that what the on-field referee is seeing is clearly communicated to the VAR team.

"It hits the Kilmarnock player's arm, there is no doubt about that, but his arm is in a natural position - they even say he's trying to avoid the contact.

"If the ball then drops at his feet and he scores, then we disallow the goal as per the laws.

"But the ball goes to another player who puts it in. Absolutely correct, in law.

"It's straight-forward for us. I repeat again, I hope the majority of the people watching this clip will be clear that this was a clear goal."
