Celtic vs Bayern Munich Champions League away ticket allocation detailed

Bayern Munich will be backed by around 3,000 supporters for the Champions League match against Celtic.

The Bundesliga giants head to Celtic Park on Wednesday for the first leg of the knockout play-off round.

Celtic play the first match at home with Bayern the seeded club having finished 12th in the league phase. Celtic ended up in 21st taking 12 points from their eight matches in Europe.

The first leg will be played on Wednesday, February 12 before the return leg on Tuesday, February 18.

Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor has revealed the Munich club will be permitted to sell around 3,000 tickets for the Champions League tie.

UEFA rules state five percent of the capacity must be offered to away teams for the fixture.

The guidance states: "The visiting association or club must be allocated 5% of the total stadium capacity as tickets for their supporters in a dedicated sector of the stadium.

"This sector of the stadium must be capable of being segregated from other sectors. The location of away supporters within this sector must be agreed in advance by police and public authorities."

With Celtic Park capable of hosting just over 60,000 spectators, a 3,000 away allocation would be the designated five per cent allocation of the stadium.

Meanwhile, Celtic will be allowed to sell tickets for the away leg after fears of a lockout due to UEFA disciplinary proceedings.

The club received another fine from UEFA over the throwing of fireworks in the match against Aston Villa but no fan ban was ordered meaning supporters can travel to Munich.

A statement from the club read: “Celtic Football Club notes today’s decision by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body to fine Celtic 10,000 Euros, following our match against Aston Villa, for the throwing of fireworks.

“We can confirm that Celtic supporters will be able to attend our forthcoming Champions League match in Munich.

“As we had said previously, Celtic made every effort to ensure that our fans could attend this match, and we are pleased that UEFA has considered our detailed submission.

“We can also confirm that the original suspended sentence remains in place, as a result of the previous use of pyrotechnics, most recently at the match against Borussia Dortmund, by a small minority of supporters.

“Again we must make it very clear that pyrotechnics have absolutely no place at our matches and should further incidents occur, then clearly, once again, there is an extremely high risk of our supporters not being permitted access to future matches.”
