Celtic v Rangers title race winner predicted as supercomputer casts final league table judgement

Celtic have been predicted to comfortably stroll to the Premiership title this season ahead of Glasgow rivals Rangers.

The tone has changed somewhat in the city after a shock weekend of top flight results. Mood was low at Ibrox after three defeats in succession and despite a 2-1 win over Dundee United, doubt remain over their performance levels. Celtic meanwhile had been on a rampant run of form but their unbeaten domestic run stopped one day short of a calendar year on Sunday with a 2-0 loss at St Mirren.

It means their lead at the top of the Premiership is down to two points but Giovanni van Bronckhorst's challengers aren't expected to claw that back. According to numbers crunched by the MyBettingSites supercomputer, a 'shocking' drop in standards by Rangers will pave the way for the Hoops to retain their crown won by Ange Postecoglou during his first season in charge of the Hoops.

His team are now on short odds of 1/3 for silverware with Rangers second favourites at 5/2. Hearts come in as evens to finish third with Hibs and Aberdeen next up for that spot.

Dundee United are 2/1 to finish bottom after their slow start to the term and Kilmarnock are 3/1 to contest the Premiership play-off by finishing 11th.

A statement explains: “Rangers have had a shocking drop in their standards this season compared to last, which is why Celtic will be comfortable winners of the SPFL according to our latest forecast.

“The Supercomputer will upset St. Mirren fans as despite their really positive start to the season, they are predicted to finish closer to the bottom than third. Dundee United will be relegated whilst Kilmarnock will prepare to play the Championship sides to stay in the top division.”
