Celtic troll in chief goads Rangers fans and singles out Alfredo Morelos with loaded derby claim - Hotline

Rangers soothed their Old Firm hangover by gulping down the goals against Hearts on Sunday.

But the Celtic support reckon the Ibrox side will still be drowning their sorrows come the end of the season.

First on the blower to the Hotline was Hoops fan Bud Hay, Dumfries, who said: “Here we go again! Rangers won a game and they are going to win everything! Rangers can’t win the league, only Celtic can loose it. As I told you weeks ago Celtic are back and you better believe it!”

Gerry Kelly was in just as confident mood as he emailed in: “Rangers fans can kid themselves on and say they are better because they won 5-0 against Hearts but the whole of the UK and Europe saw they got absolutely destroyed before half-time at Parkhead! We’re doing our talking on the pitch! What’s their excuse for Wednesday? Had some players missing? So did Celtic!”

David Bryce, Troon, added: “I have to pay tribute to Ange Postecoglou for putting Celtic in a position whereby they appear to be genuine title contenders. Nobody thought this would be possible.

“He has done a super job thus far. We have another hard game, in no doubt tough conditions, at Pittodrie this week but we have to find a way to get the result and keep winning, as I have no doubt that Gers will finish the season strongly.”

Regular caller Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “Rangers fans are in for a shock as no one is looking forward to the next derby as much as Celtic.

“We utterly trounced them with half a team missing and spare me the Alfredo Morelos excuse as this guy has never scored in a real Glasgow derby with fans in attendance – and never will!”

Colin McArdle, Lanarkshire, wrote: “ Gio van Bronckhorst picked the Rangers squad for the recent game against Celtic then slaughtered them when they were outplayed by a superior team. The Dutchman is another Neil Lennon, blames everyone else but himself.

“Celtic under a brilliant and totally respectable manager like Ange will win the Treble this season, there is no doubt about that simply because they are the best. Wee Gio will be gone by the end of the season after he loses control of the dressing room as a result of criticising his own players in exactly the same way as Lennon.”

Stuart Dickson, Edinburgh, said: “Any fair minded person would accept that the last two seasons in Scottish football have not been a true reflection of our clubs. Season 2019-20 had to be curtailed early and season 20-21 was played almost completely without the presence of fans. Wouldn’t it be better to remove both from the record books?

“If we did the Celtic would now be aiming for their ninth in a row (and ten next season) which was only taken from us by the Covid pandemic.”

But Bluenose Joe Smith, Coleraine, reckons the green half of Glasgow are getting ahead of themselves.

He said: “We will soon be back at the top of the league of that there is no doubt. Our team were caught flatfooted last Wednesday but that won’t happen again. We will retain the league, just not by 25 points this year…”

Stuart McLeod said: “Caller Kenny Wilson was on to chastise the Rangers support for enjoying their 5-0 victory over Hearts, this came a day after we were being told by the Celtic support the Champions League better look out next season.

“One Old Firm win in over two years seems to have given some illusions of grandeur. I believe Celtic are playing in their third European competition this season having been knocked out of two already.

Stuart Patterson, Dundee, is looking forward to seeing how the new league leaders fare at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.

He said: “Which Aberdeen team will turn up against Celtic? The one which was superb against Rangers but has been rank rotten ever since?

“Scott Brown needs to play more than four games a season! The Dons need a big performance from him against Celtic or will he have to go off again with his mysterious injury that only happens when he’s due to face his old team?”
