Celtic transfer update as 'want to keep' message sent by club after Hoops reignite midfielder pursuit

St Mirren chief executive Keith Lasley has reiterated the club's stance that they want to keep Dylan Reid instead of selling him to Celtic.

The teenage midfielder is reportedly back on the radar at Parkhead after they initially failed to convince him to join earlier this summer. Reid has been told he will be playing Lowland League football for the 'B' team if he moves to Glasgow and has opted to stay in Paisley for now, where senior minutes are more likely under Stephen Robinson.

Those have been hard to come by in the early stages of this season and it's prompted Celtic to rekindle their interest in the Scotland youth international. Lasley, speaking to Renfrewshire Live, hopes that a clear pathway to play Premiership competition is enough to keep Reid in St Mirren plans. Nothing has come to fruition in terms of an exit as of yet.

He said: "There's no update on Dylan just now. As we stand there's nothing new to report on him. Dylan is one of a number of young players who have come through at the club that we want to keep and develop.

"Alongside Kieran Offord, Murray Campbell and Fraser Taylor, he has got minutes for the first team already this season.

"Hopefully he can see the pathway is there into our first team this season. As a club we want to produce our own players. It's a big part of who we are."
