Young Boys sporting director Christoph Spycher named the two key factors that could see Fabian Rieder leave the club - with Celtic named among the interested parties.
Brendan Rodgers is reportedly an admirer of the 21-year-old after he helped his side to the title last season as well as making his international breakthrough with the Switzerland national side. The Scottish Premiership champions may have to flex their financial muscle to land a deal with reports suggesting a £13million price tag has been placed on Rieder ahead of a potential summer bidding war.
The likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern Leverkusen and Wolfsburg have been linked with a swoop, and Spycher has revealed that player power and the transfer valuation will decide where Rieder ends up this summer. Asked about the sale of Rieder by 20 minuten , he said: "There are always two factors when changing candidates. The emotional and empathetic factor towards people, but also the economic factor.
"I'm not employed as a colleague of the player, but responsible for the sporting department of Young Boys. We also have to be economically sustainable. It is his obligation to get the best out of negotiations in the interest of Young Boys."
Manchester United fringe man Donny van de Beek has also touted with a move to Celtic Park this summer. He has been left behind at Carrington by the Erik ten Hag as for opening pre-season fixture against Leeds United in Oslo.
However, the Manchester Evening News report that it may not be due to a imminent transfer exit. It is claimed that the Netherlands international is undertaking an individual training programme as he seeks to get back to full fitness after a knee injury that has kept him out since January.
But it is noted Van de Beek has been in full training throughout this week. The report states he "wants to play first-team football" and could leave this summer.
Elsewhere Celtic are set to land a bumper windfall for Jeremie Frimpong - with Bayer Leverkusen reportedly demanding £35million for the full-back. Manchester United and Arsenal are fighting it out for a deal - but Sky Germany report a late bid from Bayern Munich is on the cards.
The Bundesliga side are reportedly growing "impatient" with their pursuit of Manchester City star Kyle Walker. Frimpong has been named Thomas Tuchel’s "preferred alternative".
