Celtic transfer latest as Vinicius Souza insider verdict resurfaces with big future predictions

Celtic are reportedly interested in a loan deal for Brazilian midfielder Vinicius Souza.

The Lommel SK enforcer, who spent last season on-loan at KV Mechelen and is said to be 60 per cent owned by the City Football Group, is a man in-demand this summer.

It's said Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and Bologna have also declared an interest in the 22-year-old.

And according to Mechelen assistant boss Steven Defour, Souza should be aiming high.

Defour conducted an interview with Belgian outlet HLN at the end of last season where he waxed lyrical about Souza's performances - and future prospects.

He said: “Vini can make a great career. He can perfectly join a Belgian or Dutch top club. But perhaps the middle or sub-top of the Premier League is the ideal step. There he will be challenged. He needs that to keep making progress.

“This season, we already saw that sometimes it was too easy for him, and then there was nonchalance in his game. Where his ceiling is, is difficult to estimate. But he has the qualities to make it at the top of Europe.

"Vini is head and shoulders above the rest this season. He breaks down an incredible number of attacks. In addition, many of our attacks start through his foot.”

Meanwhile, Lanus have knocked back Celtic's opening bid for left-back Alexandro Bernabei, according to a report.

The 21-year-old Argentine has emerged as a target for Ange Postecoglou as he looks to add competition for Greg Taylor.

TyC Sports claim the Premiership champions' initial offer has been rejected, but that Lanus are willing to entertain an improved package.
