Celtic transfer latest as Owen Moffat departs club on permanent deal for English adventure

Celtic starlet Owen Moffat has completed a permanent switch away from Parkhead.

The 20-year-old has joined English Championship outfit Blackpool on a three-year contract with the club holding an option for a further year. The winger had been on the books of the Hoops since the age of seven and landed his top team debut under Ange Postecoglou against Ross County last season.

Moffat picked up two further first team appearances for Celtic, but with chances very limited under the Aussie boss, the youngster has decided to move south of the border. He will initially link up with the Blackpool Development Squad as he bids to break into the first-team set up at his new club.

On joining Blackpool, he said: “I’m really happy to sign for Blackpool.

"The club has been interested for a few weeks now and it’s good to get the deal done. I want to put some good performances in for the Development Squad and see what happens. Hopefully I can push on into the first-team squad.”

A club statement read: "Blackpool Football Club can confirm the signing of Owen Moffat from Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

"The 20-year-old winger, who will initially link up with the Club’s Development Squad, has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract at Bloomfield Road, which includes an option for a further year.

"On the books of Celtic since the age of seven, he made his first-team debut for the Bhoys against Ross County last season and followed it up with a further two appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side. "
