Celtic transfer latest as goalkeeper priority amid Idah & Bernardo talks

John Kennedy has insisted Celtic are working to sign a goalkeeper as a transfer priority as he admitted "conversations are happening" over deals for Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo.

The Parkhead assistant manager revealed Celtic have identified possible targets to replace Joe Hart as No1 after the goalkeeper retired at the end of the season.

On Sky Sports, Kennedy said: "The club are working hard on that. Obviously, some targets have been identified and they've been working on that in the background.

"Again, it's a key position for us and we know that it's a position that we need to get in and we want to do that as soon as we can, so hopefully in the coming weeks, we can have some news on that."

Pushed on having to travel to America in pre-season potentially without a new No1 in place, he added: "I think there are some challenges with that in terms of negotiations that will take place, but we know it's a key position for us and we want to get the key positions in as quickly as we can so that we can get to work with them.

"The manager, the board and the guys at the club are working hard on that."

Quizzed on making moves for Idah and Bernardo this summer after the pair spent last season on loan in Glasgow, Kennedy explained: "Again, I think there are a lot of conversations happening. It's a time when a lot of players have been on holiday and different things have been happening.

"A lot of conversations are taking place and as we now come back for pre-season, hopefully in the coming weeks a few things will start to happen, but there are a lot of plates spinning, a lot of work getting done and hopefully we'll start to see all that start to materialise in the coming weeks."
