Celtic transfer bulletin as Ryan Mmaee sticking point emerges while door narrows on 2 midfield options

Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed a hectic summer transfer window with the Celtic boss adding eight new recruits to the squad so far. With deadline day just around the corner there is still time to boost his numbers this summer.

Champions League football is just around the corner and with a Scottish Premiership title to defend the Australian will want plenty of competition throughout his squad. The likes of Albian Ajeti, Mikey Johnston and James McCarthy could all be heading out of Parkhead to make way for some late additions before the window closes on September 1.

Postecoglou has admitted there are things going on behind the scenes in terms of incoming and outgoings, and a name that has been on the Scottish champions' radar all summer is Ferencvaros striker Ryan Mmaee. Record Sport revealed earlier this summer that the Scottish champions had scouted the Moroccan international star, and a last gasp move is on the cards for the frontman.

Ligue 1 side Nantes are the latest club to make an approach to the Hungarian champions for the 25-year-old, report French outlet Sport . However, Ferencvaros have reportedly told any interested club that they will not sell until after the World Cup this winter.

The Moroccan international is expected to be called up for his national side for the tournament. The report claims that Ferencvaros hope that the forward will drive up his value with impressive performances in Qatar.

Elsewhere, Jani Atanasov was a surprise name that was linked with a move to Glasgow's east end. Earlier this summer reports in Croatian and Macedonia suggested Parkhead chiefs were weighing up a move for the midfielder.

However, the 22-year-old looks set to stay with Hajduk Split. Slobodna Dalmacija report that Celtic have not firmed up their interest in Atanasov, stating that "other options" are further up the Parkhead wish list at this stage of the window.

Elsewhere, St Mirren have moved to cool speculation that midfield prospect Dylan Reid could be on his way to their Premiership rivals. The 17-year-old had opted to stay with Stephen Robinson's side when the Hoops had a bid accepted earlier in the summer.

Reports had suggested Celtic were prepared to revive their interest, but chief executive Keith Lasley insists he hasn't heard anything from Celtic Park. He told Renfrewshire Live Sport: "There's no update on Dylan just now.

"As we stand there's nothing new to report on him. Dylan is one of a number of young players who have come through at the club that we want to keep and develop."
