Celtic transfer bulletin as Cameron Carter Vickers wanted by Newcastle plus news on Alexandre Mendy and Mohanad Jeahze

Celtic are preparing to take their final step in a long road back to the Scottish Premiership title.

But in Ange Postecoglou's office you can be certain there are a number of targets circled on a whiteboard somewhere as he looks to build from a position of strength.

Last year he spoke of wanting to build his own 'beautiful house' at Parkhead and then see how it stacks up against the rest of the neighbourhood.

That approach has undoubtedly been the right one on a domestic level, but to borrow another building metaphor and a favourite of old adversary Steven Gerrard it's important to fix your roof while the sun is shining.

Two important tiles he'll want to keep in place are Benfica star Jota and Tottenham loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers.

And there's news to bring regarding the second of those names with US outlet SBI Soccer insisting Newcastle United are tracking the centre-back's situation.

The super-rich Magpies are described as "ready to pounce" on USA cap CCV should Celtic chiefs baulk at a transfer fee that could rise to as much as £10million when potential add-ons are accounted for.

One man who will almost certainly be in green and white next season in Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze.

The question is if the left-back will wear his Swedish side's colours or that of the Parkhead club – and now it looks like being the latter.

The Scottish Sun claim a £2million deal to bring him in as competition for Greg Taylor is all but over the line.

Meanwhile, SM Caen striker Alexandre Mendy has been reported in the French press as another forward Celtic are targeting.

And his boss Stephane Moulin accepts he'll need to deal with a number of exits: "I have often experienced this. Every season, we were told: 'you are losing your best players, it will not work next season'.

"We always managed to up the gauntlet despite everything. We hope to do the same thing next season."
