Celtic target told he can 'reach Henrik Larsson's level' if move happens

Mathias Kvistgaarden can reach the levels of Henrik Larsson if he joins Celtic, according to Thomas Gravesen.

The midfielder spent two years on the books at Parkhead before retiring in 2008 and believes his fellow countryman Kvistgaarden would be an adequate addition to the ranks of his former club.

Celtic have been widely linked with the striker in previous transfer windows. He has scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances for Brondby this season.

Should a move to Glasgow's east end come to fruition for Kvistgaarden, Gravesen thinks he could emulate the form of the legendary Larsson: "He is shining in his absence at Brondby," he told Tiplsbladet [via SunSport].

"They should be happy that he is there and enjoy the time he has left.

"If he moves to Scotland, I am sure that he can reach Henrik Larsson’s level if he spends five to 10 years at Celtic. He is simply that good and strong."

When striker Kyogo Furuhashi departed Celtic in January for Rennes, Brendan Rodgers made clear his desire to sign a replacement number nine, although nothing came to fruition.

Coincidentally, Brondby chairman Jan Bech Andersen recently revealed his club rejected offers for Kvistgaarden in the winter window: "Yes, we turned down offers – concrete ones and less concrete ones," he said [Record].

"There were never any numbers that made us deviate from our plan not to sell him in this transfer window. They weren’t good enough, but hopefully it will be when the time is right for him and the club.

"It was 100 per cent a goal for us to keep him for the rest of the season. There have been many enquiries about him – on the last day and the penultimate day of the transfer window, but we have a good dialogue with Kvistgaarden and his agent about what we are trying to achieve together.

"And the plan was for him to play for us in the spring, when we have many big goals to achieve and then we have to see what happens in the summer."
