Celtic target former Dundee left back as Brendan Rodgers looks for Bueno alternative

Celtic have shown interest in acquiring Liverpool's promising left-back, Owen Beck.

The 21-year-old defender has been making waves in the youth ranks at Anfield, and his potential has not gone unnoticed by clubs looking to bolster their squads ahead of the new season.

Celtic are reportedly leaning towards a permanent deal for Beck, aiming to secure his services long-term as they prepare to defend their Scottish Premiership title yet again.

Brendan Rodgers is eager to capture a full-back to compete with Greg Taylor, especially since Alexandro Bernabei remains out on-loan, and quite frankly, is not in Celtic's immediate plans.

Rodgers had eyed Wolves' Hugo Bueno, however their pursuit hit a "roadblock" earlier this week.

Beck gained valuable experience at Dundee last season, where he shone during his 28 appearances, and could provide Celtic a decent option, especially as they look to challenge rivals Rangers for the league title plus remain strong in the domestic cup competitions and the Champions League.

The Liverpool starlet is also on Queens Park Rangers' radar. But the English Championship outfit have expressed a preference for a loan arrangement, according to Sky Sports.

The London club, which is looking to strengthen its squad after a challenging season, sees a loan deal as a way to assess Beck's capabilities in the division before committing to a permanent transfer.

Other teams in the English Football League are believed to be monitoring the situation.
