Celtic supporters travelling to Birmingham for the Hoops’ UEFA Champions League showdown against Aston Villa on Wednesday night have been issued important matchday and travel information ahead of the highly anticipated fixture at Villa Park.
Celtic fans are expected to descend on Birmingham in their thousands and it’s important to note that there’s several road works in place that could affect travel times. So, Celtic advise to plan your journey accordingly.
Birmingham has excellent rail links, with Birmingham New Street being the main station in the city. From there, fans can connect to Witton or Aston railway stations, which are both within walking distance of Villa Park.
For those driving, Villa Park is located at Trinity Road, Birmingham B6 6HE. The stadium is easily accessible from the M6 motorway (Junction 6), but matchday traffic congestion is expected. Fans should allow extra time for their journey and make use of official parking facilities where possible.
Supporters travelling on organised supporter buses should follow the guidance of their respective travel organisers regarding drop-off and pick-up points.
Additionally, to secure the maximum away ticket allocation, all Celtic supporters must collect their match tickets in person. The collection point is the Celtic FC Ticket Office at Celtic Park, which will be open until 2pm.
Fans are reminded that no tickets will be available for collection in Birmingham, so they must ensure they have secured their entry before travelling. They are also encouraged to carry valid identification for ticket collection and stadium entry.
Villa Park, one of England’s most historic football grounds, has a seating capacity of over 42,000 and is expected to be at full capacity for this Champions League encounter.
Away fans will be located in the Doug Ellis Stand Upper Tier, with access through turnstiles K and L. Food, drink, and toilet facilities will be available in the concourse areas.
West Midlands Police have advised that supporters comply with all police and steward instructions at all times and to respect the city during their visit.
Celtic has also reminded supporters to represent the club positively and abide by stadium regulations and UEFA’s supporter code of conduct at all times. That includes the prohibited use of pyrotechnics and the displaying of any explicit banners.
Celtic go into the final Champions League league-phase match sitting 18th in the table, whilst Villa are ninth and have a great chance to progress to the knockout stage without going through a play-off.
Supporters are encouraged to check Celtic FC’s official website and social media channels for any last-minute updates regarding the fixture.
