Celtic have officially made a move for Mateusz Bogusz from Los Angeles FC.
Following LAFC's 3-1 loss to Columbus Crew in the Leagues Cup final on Sunday, where Bogusz assisted Olivier Giroud's goal, talks between the two clubs have resumed.
Celtic are actively pursuing the 23-year-old Poland Under-21s star as part of their strategy to sign two midfielders before Friday's transfer deadline.
Brendan Rodgers' side hope the potential acquisition will help ease the loss of Matt O'Riley, who joined Brighton for a reported £30million on Monday.
Bogusz was previously at Leeds United and has scored 21 goals from 76 appearances since moving to LAFC last March.

The reigning Scottish Premiership champions have also put forth a £6.5m bid for Augsburg's Arne Engels.
While it's believed that Barcelona left-back Alex Valle could also join Viljami Sinisalo, Kasper Schmeichel, Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah as a summer recruit after both clubs finalised a season-long loan agreement for the promising 20-year-old.
Finding an adequate player to provide competition for Greg Taylor has been a key area Celtic wanted to address throughout the current transfer window.
Rodgers admitted last weekend that recruitment is something Celtic must begin to get right as he noted his dissatisfaction at the timing of the activity.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: "There are a number of things I won’t go into here, but it’s definitely something, having come back in and gone through three windows now, we have to put right as a football club.
"We shouldn’t have been getting into this last week in the position we're in. That's the reality. However, that's something for us for after this window.
"We want to develop, we want to improve. We can't be happy just to make our money and build our pot because the bottom line is on the pitch."
