Celtic starting XI v Dundee United confirmed as Abada decision made while Giakoumakis sparks mystery

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has named his starting XI that will face Dundee United this afternoon.

All eyes are on Premiership action again after a week that has saw the Hoops landed in a Champions League group with Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk. Giorgos Giakoumakis is omitted from the squad which has prompted questions from fans as to why, while new attacking signing Sead Haksabanovic is also not included at Tannadice.

Reo Hatate and Carl Starfelt are back in the starting XI while Liel Abada is selected to start in attack alongside Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi instead of Daizen Maeda. It's a return to where Celtic confirmed last season's title glory and they face a Dundee United side in disarray after a challenging few weeks started with a 7-0 thumping against AZ Alkmaar. Since then, they have turned in bleak performances in 4-1 and 3-0 defeats to Hearts and St Mirren.

Postecoglou said of this match: “We’ve got three games between now and the first Champions League game and it’s really important we go into that game in good form and feel good about ourselves.”

Celtic starting XI: Hart, Juranovic, Starfelt, Carter-Vickers, Taylor, McGregor, O'Riley, Hatate, Jota, Abada, Kyogo.
