Celtic starting team news vs Sydney FC as Ange Postecoglou hands fringe men chance in homecoming

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic team for the Sydney Super Cup opener.

The Hoops are without quartet Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic and Aaron Mooy due to World Cup commitments but they've have handed a host of stars on the fringes a chance in their clash with Sydney FC.

Celtic's trip to Australia marks Postecoglou's homecoming and the 57-year-old will be very keen to impress in his homeland and get not only the victory but the performance to match as his side begin preparations for the second-half of the season. They go into the break nine points clear of Rangers at the Premiership summit and also in the hunt for both the ViaPlay and Scottish Cup. Skipper Callum McGregor has been back out on the grass and speaking after arriving Down Under, he said: “It’s great to be here. We obviously had a long day travelling yesterday but it’s great now being in Sydney.
