Celtic starting team news vs St Mirren as David Turnbull handed Scottish Cup role

Celtic already have one cup final to look forward to and will be hoping to steer towards the latter stages of the Scottish Cup.

Standing in Ange Postecoglou's way is St Mirren who are the only side to beat the Hoops in domestic action this season after September's 2-0 victory stunned the champions. Since it has been nothing but wins and draws for Postecoglou and co and the Viaplay Cup final stage is set against Rangers later in the month.

Assistant John Kennedy knows they need to be totally focused for the fifth-round tie in Glasgow. He said: "There’s always a slightly different mindset. There’s a bigger consequence, there is no way of redeeming yourself the following week or later on in the season so you have to go in with the maximum focus on it.

“Even if your performance isn’t going to plan you have to somehow dig out a result and get through to the next round.

“We know that but we just stick to the process. We know how we want to play and the approach and the way we prepare won’t change but you always in the back of your head have to maintain that there’s a bigger consequence to this game if you don’t perform on the day.”

Celtic starting XI: Hart, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor, McGregor, Turnbull, Mooy, Jota, Maeda, Kyogo.

Subs: Bain, Haksabanovic, Abada, Kobayashi, Oh, Iwata, O’Riley, Hatate, Forrest.

St Mirren starting XI: Carson, Strain, Fraser, Taylor, Gallagher, Tanser, Gogic, Baccus, O’Hara, Grieve, Main.

Subs: Urminsky, Shaughnessy, Kenny, Small, Flynn, Kiltie, Offord, Jamieson, Watt.
