Celtic star Mikey Johnston in eight word verdict after Vitoria Guimaraes debut

Mikey Johnston has delivered an eight word verdict after getting off to the perfect start following his debut for Vitoria Guimaraes.

The highly-regarded attacker left Celtic on loan for a season in Portugal as he bids for a run of consistent first-team football following a series of niggling injuries. Ange Postecoglou handed the 23-year-old a contract extension before sanctioning a move that will see him out of his comfort zone and trying out a new league for the campaign.

After joining before the transfer deadline, Johnston found himself as an unused sub against Braga but he made his debut on Friday night for his new club as they defeated Santa Clara by a single goal. The Celtic man was introduced at the beginning of the second period and just three minutes later Vitoria grabbed what proved to be the winner through Anderson.

It was the perfect start for the Hoops star at his temporary club made it three wins and three defeats from the opening six games of the campaign. They currently sit sixth in the table just one point outside the European places at this early stage.

After making his debut, he wrote on Instagram: "Back on the grass. Debut and three points."

A number of team-mates past and present sent on well wishes following his first game including Ben Doak, Stephen Welsh, Josip Juranovic, Johnny Kenny and Osaze Urhoghide.

Next up is a clash away at Arouca before a showdown with Portuguese giants Benfica.
