Celtic star Matt O'Riley was watched by Newcastle United scouts during Denmark's Under-21 clash with Croatia, according to a report.
The 21-year-old has been a standout for the Hoops since his £1.5million arrival from MK Dons in January. He's established himself as a key man in Ange Postecoglou's squad and continues to go from strength to strength.
A host of clubs both south of the border and in Europe have been monitoring the midfielder - who confirmed the Magpies and Leicester were among them. Manchester United also got credited with an interest during the summer window. But the Scottish Sun say that scouts from mega-rich Newcastle saw the Celtic ace open the scoring in a 2-1 win in the Euros U-21s play-offs, before a painful shootout loss.

Speaking previously about interest in him, O’Riley said: “I know Leicester showed a lot of interest in me. I think Newcastle were there too.
“I didn’t think about it because nobody from Celtic told me Newcastle had made an offer.
"It wasn’t like that, so there wasn’t much to think about.”
Rangers were also on the official scouting list for the Under-21 clash.
O'Riley has featured nine times in all competitions for Celtic this season. He's chipped in with five assists to date.
He played in both Champions League games against Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.
