Kyogo Furuhashi was on target for Japan as they hammered El Salvador by six goals.
The Samurai Blue opened the scoring in the very first minute of the game and with just five minutes on the clock the game was virtually over after they netted a second and their opponents had been reduced to ten men with a red card after just four minutes. Reo Hatate - who has been impressive ever since joining Celtic - was pitched in from the start but his two Parkhead colleagues in the shape of Kyogo and Daizen Maeda had to settle for a spot on the bench.
But Celtic's top striker was on the scoresheet once he was introduced to the game as he headed home the sixth goal of the game for Japan to round off a thumping result.
It was a welcomed return to the international scene after the Hoops star netted a stunning 34 goals in all competitions last season as the Scottish champions completed the Treble. Ange Postecoglou's last act in charge was to win the Scottish Cup Final and make sure of a domestic clean sweep.
The 57-year-old has now departed for a crack at the English Premier League with Tottenham and has discovered his fixture fate for the new season with Manchester United his opponents on matchday two and a North London derby in the opening stages of the season.
Reports claimed Ange is set to spark a transfer battle for Kyogo - the man he took to Celtic - with clubs in Europe's top five league interested but incoming boss Brendan Rodgers, who is in advanced talks over a stunning return - will be desperate to work with the 28-year-old next season.
