Celtic star David Turnbull takes in Motherwell game ahead of injury comeback

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull returned to Fir Park yesterday to watch old side Motherwell in action as he edges nearer to his comeback from injury.

The Wishaw star - who joined the Hoops from the Steelmen in August 2020 for £3m - has been sidelined since December last year when he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the League Cup final triumph over Hibernian at Hampden.

He has been going through rehabilitation on a muscle issue and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou last week issued an update saying the Scotland international was close to a return to training.

And yesterday the 22-year-old was on hand to offer some support to injured Motherwell midfielder and former team-mate Barry Maguire, who has been ruled out for the season.

Maguire was spotted on crutches alongside Turnbull in the Fir Park stands during Motherwell's Premiership clash with bottom side Dundee, managed by ex-Well boss Mark McGhee.

And it didn't make great viewing for those of a Motherwell persuasion, as the Steelmen went behind early on and could only draw 1-1 with a depleted Dundee side, missing six players due to Covid.
