The extent of Cameron Carter-Vickers' injury has reportedly been revealed.
The Celtic centre-back's season is now over following Sunday's victory over Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Ange Postecoglou confirmed that the American international will play no further part for the Scottish champions as they bid to win yet another treble in the last month of the campaign.
The defender is set to go under the knife to fix an injury issue that has been bothering the 25-year-old.
Now, according to SBI Soccer, Carter-Vickers could be out for three or four months as he recovers from surgery.
If accurate, it means that Celtic's best defender would be missing for the 2023/24 season opener - which takes place on August 4.
Speaking after the win over Rangers, Celtic boss Postecoglou told Viaplay: "I thought the two centre-halves were outstanding.
"That is Cameron Carter-Vickers' last game. He has been carrying an injury for I don't know how long.
"We will put him out to pasture for now and let him get what he needs to get done."
Meanwhile, Greg Taylor has seemingly aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Rangers ace Todd Cantwell.
The Celtic left-back was up against the former Norwich attacker during Sunday's fiercely contested Scottish Cup semi-final.
The game finished 1-0 to the Hoops at Hampden, with Jota scoring the only goal of the afternoon.
One of the other major talking points of the game was Cantwell's performance.
