Celtic have slammed the “appalling” and “completely unacceptable” behaviour from the Ibrox stands during their Scottish Premiership match against Rangers.
The Parkhead club has confirmed that authorities are looking into two separate incidents from the match, including one where midfielder Arne Engels was hit by a coin late in the game.
Sky Sports cameras captured Celtic substitute Engels falling to the ground while preparing to take a corner kick. He required medical attention as a result before continuing.
In a concerning development, it has been revealed that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was also targeted by a missile in a different incident during the heated derby.
"We understand that Police Scotland are currently investigating two separate incidents,” a Celtic statement read.
“The repeated targeting of our players and staff with missiles is quite appalling and completely unacceptable."
Meanwhile, a Rangers spokesman said: “Rangers FC condemns this incident in the strongest possible terms.
“The club can confirm it will assist Police Scotland with their investigation.”
