Celtic are set to be handed the chance to clinch the title at Tynecastle in the first post-split Scottish Premiership fixture, according to a report.
And Ange Postecoglou’s champions are pencilled in to travel to rivals Rangers in the second match where they could have already wrapped up two-in-a-row. But if they fail to secure the title in Edinburgh they it could mean heading to Govan to kick off their title party on the weekend of May 13/14.
That is according to The Scottish Sun who say those are likely to be the fixtures when they are announced today after SPFL chiefs complete their talks with TV bosses at Sky Sports. If Celtic do travel to the home of Hearts, where they clinched the title in 2017 under Brendan Rodgers, on the weekend of May 6/7 – the King’s Coronation weekend – then it will mean thousands missing out on seeing their crowning moment with the away allocation in Gorgie reduced in recent seasons to just 1400.
Celtic are 13 points clear of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race and need just one victory to get their hands on the prize. The Hoops are due to play two home games after the split with three away from home.
Record Sport revealed on Monday evening there was a delay over the announcement of the fixtures. We reported it was over broadcasting issues.
