Atlanta United are setting their sights on a bold move to bring Celtic’s star striker Kyogo Furuhashi to Major League Soccer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail say the American club was prepared to fork out around £10 million to secure the services of the Japanese forward in the summer, but initial contact has yielded little encouragement.
With two designated player slots still open as they gear up for the new season kicking off in February, the ambitious MLS outfit is on the hunt for a marquee centre-forward to bolster their squad.
Recent reports from Portugal have suggested that negotiations with Benfica over Brazilian striker Arthur Cabral have come to a standstill due to a disagreement over the transfer fee. However, it's suggested that Furuhashi remains very much on Atlanta's radar as they look to build a competitive team.

The recent appointment of former Celtic manager Ronny Deila as head coach is a clear indication of the club's intent to raise their profile and performance in the league. Following the hiring of Chris Henderson, a former executive at Inter Miami, as chief soccer officer, CEO Garth Lagerwey has stated his commitment to significant changes ahead.
"We promised that we were going to remake the club," Lagerwey declared. "This is the first big one, and there’ll be more to come to make this better in 2025."
