Celtic's path back to the Champions League explained: Process, seeding, dates

After a more than impressive 2024/25 European campaign, Celtic are already looking forward to what lies in store for them on the continent next season.

Brendan Rodgers' men were painstakingly eliminated from the Champions League yesterday evening at the hands of Bayern Munich, with Alphonso Davies' late leveller on the night sending the German giants through on aggregate.

Celtic have shown green shoots of progress in Europe this campaign and will be eager to compete at the top level again in 2025/26.

How can Celtic qualify for next season's Champions League?

Should they retain their crown, which looks likely, they will earn a two-legged playoff tie to enter the Champions League proper for the fourth season running.

Will Celtic be seeded in the playoff draw?

It currently remains to be seen whether Celtic will be seeded for the playoff draw. We won't know for definite until the league campaigns finish across Europe.

We do know, however, that if they win the league, Celtic will be in the 'champions path' and, if seeded, could play the likes of FC Basel, Qarabag, Slovan Bratislava, Ludogorets Razgrad, or Sturm Graz.

What are the key dates to look out for?

The draw for Celtic's all-important playoff tie will take place on Monday, August 4.

The first leg of the tie will be on August 19/20, with the return leg due to be played out on August 26/27.

The league phase draw is then on Friday, August 28, as Rodgers' men look to make another mark on the continent.
