Celtic's away fixture at Motherwell rescheduled after SPFL request

Celtic's trip to Fir Park later this month has been rescheduled.

Rather than the match at Motherwell kicking off at 3pm on Saturday, September 30, the match will begin at 12.30pm.

The game has been brought forward by the request of both clubs, the SPFL has confirmed, and it is understood this is so Motherwell can show the match on PPV.

The encounter will not be broadcast by Sky Sports, but Celtic does have involvement in the Champions League in the following midweek.

It comes as Rodgers today confirmed that Liel Abada will likely be out of action for Celtic until after the new year.

The 21-year-old sustained a thigh injury during a shooting drill at the end of training on international duty.

He had travelled to England to receive a further scan on the injury, but Rodgers confirmed the early diagnosis didn't look positive.

"He's gone to London today for a scan," the manager said. "We think it's going to be around three to four months.

"He picked it up at the end of training in a shooting exercise, so it's a real shame for us because he's done well over pre-season and as you can see, he's started a lot of the games since I've been here.

"We're really disappointed, but it's a squad game for us so we'll have other players to come in.

"It was his thigh when they were shooting at the end of training. It looks like he's done his thigh muscle.

"He signed a new deal and seemed happy. Of course, I was looking forward to continuing his development because he still does have lots of areas that he can improve on.

"It's a shame, it's a learning curve for him. He'll work hard, hopefully get back and we'll use him for the second part of the season."

Celtic take on Dundee tomorrow as the champions welcome Tony Docherty's men to the east end of Glasgow.

The Hoops will be aiming to maintain their position at the top of the Premiership, which they secured with the derby win over Rangers prior to the international break.
