Celtic respond to second WWE star seen wearing club colours in a week

Just days after WWE wrestler CM Punk was spotted in the Celtic Superstore, and later wearing the club's Adidas training gear, another high-profile WWE star has been spotted wearing Celtic colours.

This time it's Sami Zayn, a Wrestlemania main event wrestler, current Intercontinental Champion, and self-proclaimed "Champion of the People".

While promoting a pivot into the world of comedy, Zayn was interviewed about upcoming projects while wearing a dark green Adidas Originals Celtic sweatshirt – an appearance that's sure to be popular among Celtic fans with interests on both sides.

At last weekend's Clash at the Castle event in Scotland, CM Punk said part of the reason he chose Celtic colours was to goad rival Drew McIntrye, a Scottish wrestler who is an open Rangers supporter.

Zayn doesn't explain his Celtic allegiance in the above clip, but it did catch the eye of the official Celtic X account (formerly Twitter), who replied with a simple message.

(Image: Twitter) On Wednesday, the official Celtic X account got people talking when they made a hardly-subtle dig at Graeme Souness in the immediate wake of the Celtic midfielder's assist for Scott McTominay during Scotland's Group A match with Switzerland.

In the midst of the former Rangers and Scotland player's analysis of McGregor following Scotland's 5-1 Euro 2024 opener defeat to Germany, Souness had referred to the 31-year-old as the "Celtic captain" with targeted criticism, thereafter drawing the ire of the Paradise faithful.

In a subsequent radio grilling the pundit claimed he'd momentarily forgotten the 31-year-old's surname – but in response, following McGregor's pass that helped McTominay force Scotland's opening goal on Matchday Two, the club's official X account posted this tongue-in-cheek barb.
