Celtic proved they're best in Scotland but Rangers rivalry 'back to what it should be'

Celtic proved they're best in Scotland but Rangers rivalry 'back to what it should be'

JOHN BARNES insists the Celtic and Rangers rivalry is "back to what it should be" but insists Celtic proved they are the best team in Scotland.

Ange Postecoglou led Celtic to a double last term picking up the Premier Sports Cup and Scottish Premiership title in his first season in charge.

Rangers lifted the Scottish Cup and made a run to the Europa League final where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt in a penalty shoot-out.

For Barnes, it's clear Celtic are the top team in Scotland given their trophy haul last season.

However, he's expecting a competitive season as he tipped Rangers and Celtic to go head-to-head this year.

Speaking to BonusCodesBets, Barnes explained: “It’s what you would expect. You expect that (on being asked about Celtic's first two Scottish Premiership games).

"Celtic haven’t surprised me with what they’ve done because they showed last year that they are the best team in Scotland.

"You look at the confidence they played in last year to go on and win the league. And  Postecoglou has got them playing in a good fashion. They’ve got good players.

"Rangers are obviously going to be there.

"I think it has gone back to what it should be. The two best teams in the country going at it head to head."
