Celtic pre-season Japan and South Korea trip confirmed as European training camp also pencilled in

Celtic have revealed they will travel to Japan and South Korea as part of their pre-season plans.

Ange Postecoglou's side are on course to land a domestic Treble this season with a big four week period to come for the Hoops. They can secure the Premiership crown as early as this weekend at Tynecastle before facing Inverness in the Scottish Cup Final after victory over Rangers at the national stadium in the last four on Sunday.

There is plenty of football still to be played this season but as eyes start to turn towards the summer and the new season which will once again come with Champions League group stage football, the Parkhead side have detailed plans for a week long trip to Japan while also taking part in a European training camp before.

The last visit to Japan was 2006 and after a trip to Australia late last year, Postecoglou can't wait for the summer tour with the current crop of players on the books bringing big attention in a move that will 'bring this relationship to life'

He told the Celtic website: "We are really looking forward to our summer tour to Japan, and we’re sure it will be hugely successful for the club and excellent preparation for next season.

“Clearly, Celtic has a real, long-standing connection with Japan, through previous visits and players such as Shunsuke Nakamura and, of course, now through our current squad members, so it will be great to visit and really bring this relationship to life.

“As we saw from our brilliant visit to Australia last year, the appetite for Celtic globally is huge and it is right that we maximise these great opportunities and show the world all that is great about our club.

“We wanted to pay respect to Japanese football so we are delighted to be engaging with the J-League and its clubs.

“Japanese football is on a real upward trajectory at the moment, so we know we will be facing real tests, something which will be great for the team as we go into the challenges of next season.”
