They may have failed to win this weekend - but their sole point at home to Motherwell means Celtic are now just a game away from the Premiership title.
Rangers had the chance to delay the de facto champions' party date on Sunday after the Steelmen held Ange Postecoglou's side to a 1-1 draw at Parkhead. But Aberdeen - thanks to a goal from Celtic loanee Liam Scales and header from Bojan Miovski - beat them 2-0 to ensure that the Hoops are now 13 clear of their rivals with five games to play.
They meet at Hampden in Scottish Cup semi-final action next weekend but the following Saturday provides a chance for the league to be official wrapped up. The SPFL are expected to announce their list of top and bottom six fixtures within the next 24 hours after the standings were confirmed following Saturday's matches, with the first weekend of May perhaps becoming the weekend for a Celtic party. That first Saturday - May 6th - is also the date of the Coronation of Charles III and Camilla but it's the kings of Scotland crown Postecoglou will be after.
His side are guaranteed to play at least two of their remaining matches at home, with the final derby set to take place at Ibrox. It's not known yet whether they will be able to wrap things up in front of a home crowd.
